Our Story
What is now Gabler Welding Ltd. began when a young Dale Gabler took to the road with a portable welding truck in 1972. He spent time in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, where construction, boiler making and maintenance were his specialty. He married Cathy Surminsky in 1976, and his bride travelled with him for four years before the couple settled in Carberry.
Once Dale opened the shop, he moved into plant maintenance, thanks to the proximity of many food-processing facilities. Gabler Welding made a name for itself in the food-processing industry, and has worked on potato and food/grain processing plants as far away as Alberta and California.
Son Faron worked alongside his dad for many years while growing up, and in 2007 returned from University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, applying his newly learned knowledge to the family business. “Dad never pressured me to join the business – I just wanted to,” Faron said. “I enjoy the diversity – we don’t do the same thing twice. That provides some of the challenges – and the rewards.”
Regardless of circumstance, Gabler Welding can always mobilize at a moment’s notice and get the job done. Reliability always has been, and continues to be, Gabler Welding’s stock in trade.
